Elk Grove Unified School District
The citizens of Elk Grove pride themselves on their town’s stunning location, historic ties to California, unyielding community strength and, most importantly, the education of the next generations. In Elk Grove, one of the most important resources is its rich educational environment, an environment that sets it apart from any other school district in the County or the State. The City of Elk Grove is within the Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD), the fifth largest school district in California and the largest in Northern California. The district has 62 schools: 39 elementary schools, eight middle schools, eight high schools, four alternative education schools, an adult school, a special education school, and one charter school.
The EGUSD boasts a reputation for being one of the best districts in the state and sets the standard for school districts across California, with EGUSD students regularly score above the state average as a whole. The entire EGUSD includes 320 square miles, or about one third of Sacramento County, also more than 80 languages and dialects are spoken by over 10,000 Elk Grove Unified students. Elk Grove, one of the fastest growing school districts in the country, is projected to experience a student population boom over the next 25 years, than any other city in Sacramento County. This is due in large part to the areas reputation for being the fastest growing city within all of America.
The Elk Grove Unified School District has risen to the challenge of providing superb education to its ever growing population without losing sight of its main goal, focusing on meeting the needs of each child. A top performing district recognized throughout California and the nation as a leader in progressive education, the Elk Grove Unified School District maintains classes through every grade level that are rigorous, relevant and build strong relationships. Local institutions of higher learning offer programs for most undergraduate and graduate degrees, offering students the ability to specialize in a number of career fields – including public service, business, health, engineering, technology, ag-science, auto-technology, education and media. A well-educated community and labor force are evident of the EGUSD success and achievements.
